Executions by the British in
the 1916 Easter Rising and Irish War of Independence
and by the Irish Free State in the Irish Civil War.
It was common among the combatants in the Irish wars to execute members of the opposition following some sort of trial. Among executions by the British and later the Irish Free State these trials were usually no more than tribunals where the outcome was foreordained. In many cases there is no record of even a quasi-judicial procedure and prisoners were summarily executed in custody. This page deals with these.
Records of Republican (IRA and associated organizations) trials are scant, but they apparently did occur. Some victims had placards placed on their body noting they had been tried and found guilty of a specific crime usually spying. These are covered in other areas.
Comments and questions are welcome.
